The Center for Academic Resources (The Center) provides academic support services to all Simpson College students. Our goal is to help students become active learners who achieve success in their classes and in their future aspirations.
When you come to The Center, we listen to your individual needs and treat you with respect. Whether you are looking for guidance in academic advising, accessibility services, writing, research, studying for tests, or tutoring in a specific subject, our staff is ready to assist you. Students from all majors, with all grade points, first years through seniors take advantage of our services. We work hard to make sure you have the resources and support you need to succeed.
ACADEMIC SKILLS Simpson College realizes that making the transition from high school to college can present challenges. We are here to help students to develop the essential skills needed to help them succeed in their classes. Academic skills sessions and workshops are available in time management, text book reading, note taking, and test taking strategies. To schedule an appointment with an academic coach, contact Sarah Davitt at firstname.lastname@example.org or Ron Warnet at email@example.com
RESEARCH CONSULTATIONS Research consultations with a librarian offer expert guidance through the research process: topic selection and refinement, effective online database and web searching locating and evaluating resources, and compiling a bibliography. Walk-ins are welcome, however making an appointment guarantees time with a librarian. On the library landing page, book a librarian through Schedule a research appointment and send your library-related questions to Ask a librarian.
STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY Student Accessibility Services is where students with documented disabilities work with the Accessibility Coordinator to develop an individualized accommodation plan that ensures equal access to the curriculum, campus facilities, and all programs and services at Simpson College. Our goal is for students to become self-advocates, who are responsible, resilient, self-aware and engaged in the Simpson experience. To schedule a meeting about student accommodations, contact Drew Van Winkle, Director of Student Accessibility Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
